A parametric study on the dynamic lateral earth forces on retaining walls according to European and Turkish Building Earthquake Codes

In the earthquake regulations of many countries, Mononobe-Okabe method was used to determine seismic lateral earth forces and pressure coefficients for design retaining structures. However, there are various interpretation differences this between different countries. study, effect acceleration (S_DS) soil friction angles(ϕ_d^,) on acting a high structure were investigated through parametric study based methods described in 2018 Turkish Building Earthquake Code (TBEC-2018) EuroCode-8 (EC-8). For purpose, approximately 120 analyzes carried out by using parameters analysis results shown tables figures. Analyses performed yielding rigid walls anchored principles defined mentioned codes. It observed that force estimations made with TBEC-2018 higher compared values calculated according EuroCode-8. calculation dynamic thrust, unexpected may occur at some critical θ angle which is dependent coefficient.
